Parkerson, Director of Development, 615-279-0058, ext. 130 The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Booster Training Date: August 16, 2007 Training Location: David Lipscomb University, Ezell Center Board Room # 147 From: Rodger Dinwiddie, The Center for Youth Issues-Nashville Re: Training Opportunity The purpose of the training is to develop a cadre of well-trained individuals who are certified to provide training and follow-up consultation to Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committees at elementary, intermediate, middle, and/or junior high schools that are implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. A description of the certification process and requirements for certification is attached. The training will be provided by a team of experienced trainers, including Ms. Jane Reise and Rodger Dinwiddie. Short biographical descriptions of the trainers are appended. The cost of the certification training and follow-up consultation will be supported by funding from the Tennessee Department of Education via the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program. Thank you so much for your interest in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Trainers’ Biographical Information Jane Riese, LSW, is the Director of Bullying Prevention Services at Family-Child Resources, Inc. in York, Pennsylvania. A trainer, social worker and prevention educator for over twenty-two years, Jane has conducted presentations nationally and internationally on the Olweus Bullying Prevention Model. In Norway, she consulted with Dr. Olweus and in consultation with Dr. Susan Limber, is one of the program’s first certified trainers. Jane has participated as a national expert trainer/consultant to new Olweus trainers in Pennsylvania and nationally, and oversees program implementation in numerous local schools. Previously, she created and directed a victim/juvenile offender mediation program and was also the director of the York County District Attorney’s Victim/Witness Office. Rodger Dinwiddie , MEd., has served as the Executive Director of the Center for Youth Issues, Nashville Inc. since its inception in 1986. With over 30 years in education, Rodger has provided training and consultation in the areas of student assistance program services, and bullying and violence prevention and intervention services to schools throughout the United States. Currently, he is a lead trainer for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Trainer and also provides Respect & Protect and No Bullying training in partnership with Hazelden. Rodger is also Immediate - Past President of the National Student Assistance Association.
